House of vintage cognacs 'Tavria' is one of the best producers of vintage cognacs in Ukraine. This largest enterprise has existed for over hundreds of years. Interestingly, 'Tavria' is on the same parallel with the French city of Cognac, which gave its name to the drink of the same name. The grapes grown here grow in unique natural conditions. This terroir, a set of soil and climatic conditions, determines the quality and uniqueness of taste characteristics of wine and spirits derived from cultivated grapes. Hereditary winemakers and winegrowers Louis Gehler, Jean Jaton, Julius Mayer, chose this place and laid in 1899 the first vineyards. Now the House of vintage cognacs 'Tavria' produces at least a third of premium cognacs in Ukraine and is the main exporter of vintage cognacs.
The Rkatsiteli grape variety occupies a large area of land in Ukraine and provides high-quality raw materials for the production of white table wines of European and Kakhetian type, as well as strong and dessert wines. It is also a good source of table grapes for local consumption.
